What is Saakshi?

Saakshi (साक्षी) means "witness" in Hindi. This platform lets you safely upload photos, videos, and audio recordings of events you have witnessed — especially where citizens face violence or injustice in public spaces.

Your uploads are preserved as they are. Nothing is edited, compressed, or altered. Each file is sealed with a digital fingerprint so that any tampering can be detected.

Why does this exist?

Evidence disappears. Phones get seized. Files get deleted. Cloud accounts get locked. Saakshi exists so that what you recorded cannot be erased.

Your evidence may be used by legal aid lawyers to support affected citizens — but only through a separate, access-controlled portal where every action is logged.

How does it protect you?

• You stay anonymous. You get an access code. No login. No account. No name required.
• Your IP address is not stored as part of your submission. Server logs may retain connection metadata for up to 30 days solely for security purposes.
• Contact details are optional and encrypted if you choose to share them.
• Uploaded files cannot be deleted or modified after submission — preserving their evidential integrity for legal proceedings.
• Your browser computes a cryptographic fingerprint (SHA-256) for every file before it leaves your device. The server independently verifies this fingerprint after storage — so any tampering is detectable.
• Evidence is shared only with verified legal aid lawyers through a separate, access-controlled portal where every action is logged.
